3 side gigs you can use to make extra money

The last year and a half have had an effect on most people, and how they earn a living. For many, their full-time job might now look very precarious or will have gone away entirely. As a result, many of those people are looking for something to add to their income or use as a fallback position should their normal occupation disappear.

Others have decided not to rely on other people and have instead chosen to take matters into their own hands. They are looking for a side gig they can build into a full-time job, or maybe three or four part-time activities to make up a full-time income. With that in mind, here are some side gigs you might consider to make extra money, or maybe even turn into a life-changing business.

#1 Delivery driver

Before we go any further, you don’t have to be the same type of driver that delivers your Amazon package. You don’t have to have 100-plus parcels in the back of your van to deliver during the day, even though this can pay quite well. Instead, you can do single, slightly longer delivery driver jobs when you choose.

This will typically involve picking up from the seller and dropping off to the buyer something bought on eBay (most usually furniture). Other equally flexible delivery driver jobs can be done, and if you are looking for delivery driver work part time, this could be a good option

#2 Novelty freelance services

When you think of a freelancer, the first thing that springs to mind is somebody say at home (or in Starbucks) tapping away on their laptop either writing or designing something, living the ‘laptop lifestyle’. Now, while this may be broadly true, and any freelance writer or designer will tell you it’s not quite that glamorous, freelancers can do plenty of other things besides writing or graphics work.

On places like Fiverr, people make money doing things like dressing up in a costume and singing birthday messages or helping people prank their friends with text messages. This might not be what you wanted to be when you grew up, but this can be relatively easy money if you have time on your hands.

#3 Doing odd jobs

While you might not be as busy these days, some people are continuously run off their feet and they need odd jobs doing for them. There are opportunities from dogsitting for rich business people away on business trips to picking up people’s shopping in your local neighborhood.

You can, of course, start on your own, and once word gets around that there is somebody like you in the area, you could be surprised at the demand there is for your services.

Finding a side hustle does not have to mean buying a Forex course, following a crypto trader on YouTube or signing up to an affiliate marketing program on TikTok. There are plenty of things that can be done that pay a similar rate to your job, but that are flexible and are completely within your control.
